The Broadmoor still damaged from massive hail storm in Colorado Springs
Nearly a month after baseball sized hail came crashing down in western Colorado Springs, the Broadmoor still has major damage done to the iconic hotel’s roof.
Hundreds of tiles on top of the main entrance are cracked, broken, or missing completely. Kristin Schoonveld was visiting the Broadmoor on Wednesday says she was surprised to see so much damage. “It’s not just one broken tile but rows of broken tiles,” Schoonveld says.
We reached out to the Broadmoor’s director of communication to find out when the tiles will be fixed and how much it would cost them. KRDO has not heard back.
To get an idea of how much it would cost, we spoke to Krueger Brothers Construction and Integrity Roofing and Painting both based in Colorado Springs. Both companies say that typically when more than 50 percent of the tiles on a roof is destroyed, they replace the everything. Just for the top of the main entrance that would cost about hundreds of thousands of dollars. If the hotel were to replace every tile, that would be in the millions.
