Colorado State Fair prepares to crown 2018 Silver Queen

The 2018 Colorado State Fair Silver Queen Pageant will be crowned at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Coca-Cola stage inside the fairgrounds.

It’s Pueblo’s 44th annual ceremony for the unique event, hosted by Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Palliative Care.

The crowning will honor the winner, first runner-up, and second runner-up based on scores decided on by judges.

Silver Queen contestants must be a senior citizen and will be judged on appearances, interview skills, community involvement, personal history, talent, and personality.

You may recall last year’s winner, 94-year-old Blasa Rivera. Our media partner, The Pueblo Chieftain, covered a story on her charming personality.

Seniors that come onto the grounds in a bus are free, and those that walk through the gate will recieve a $2 discount from the regular $10 gate admission. Family members wishing to attend the Silver Queen Crowning must pay $7 gate admission

Event organizers just ask that contestants check in by 9:00 a.m. Thursday through Gate 8.
