Thieves break into Springs donut shop, can’t steal the dough

A pair of thieves snuck up on a donut shop employee who was on a smoke break early Monday morning in Colorado Springs, but they weren’t able to steal any money.

Colorado Springs police say they got the call from the store around 2 a.m. at Dublin and Powers boulevards. The suspects were described as white men wearing dark clothes with bandanas on their faces. The two “ambushed” the employee and pushed their way into the store, according to CSPD.

Once inside, the thieves tried to break into a safe and the cash registers, but they weren’t able to. Unable to get any dough or donuts, the men left. The employee wasn’t physically harmed, police said.

A few months ago, two armed men wearing bandanas robbed the Amy’s Donuts on Fountain Boulevard and injured one of the employees. It’s not clear if they’re connected.
