New arrest gives Colorado Springs family hope after son’s murder
A new arrest gives one Colorado Springs family hope they might get justice for their son’s murder.
A year ago this month, Kenneth John Hatcher was shot and killed at the Playing Field Sports Bar off of Academy. To date, there’s no trace of the killer.
Now, the Colorado Springs Police Department is teaming up with Hatcher’s family, asking for the community’s help to prevent the case from going cold.
“Whoever did this… destroyed a family,” said Sandra Hatcher, Kenneth’s mother.
The case that’s almost turned cold, may be getting a new light. The family believes they’re one step closer to getting answers after a recent shooting broke out last week near Roundtop Dr. and Dublin Blvd.
“I think justice will be served,” Hatcher said.

31-year-old Davin Carrera, pictured above, was arrested Wednesday after being charged with first-degree murder. Hatcher’s loved ones believe, based on what others have told them, that Carrera may be connected to his death.
“We don’t feel like detectives have put a lot of effort into it,” said Kenneth Hatcher Sr.
According to a police report, detectives say they’ve thoroughly investigated follow-up leads, but the family does not believe that’s the case.
“We’ve never even been contacted by police,” Hatcher said.
The report states a lot of people were there and in close proximity to the shooting the night of Hatcher’s death. The Hatcher family is hopeful that someone with new information will come forward.
