Passenger attacks driver, forces bus to crash

A man is accused of attacking a Greyhound bus driver Monday evening, causing it to crash along I-25 near South Academy, and forcing all northbound traffic off the interstate for several hours.

According to Fountain Police, the agency investigating the initial attack, the bus was carrying an unspecified number of passengers was on its way to Denver from Texas when it crashed around 7pm.

Once officers arrived, they took the man into custody without incident.

A FPD spokesperson said it’s unclear what charges the man arrested would face.

The Colorado State Patrol is handling the crash investigation.

A CSP spokesman said the bus driver was transported to the hospital with injuries related to the initial attack, not the crash.

Fountain Police stated several other passengers received minor injuries from the crash that left the bus wedged against the guardrail.

The passengers were eventually loaded onto a second Greyhound bus and taken the rest of the way to Denver.
