Officials say a Cherry Hills Village police officer has been shot responding to a 911 hang-up call, and the search is on for two suspects.

The Cherry Hills Village Police Department says the officer went to a home after someone called 911 and then hung up just before 11 p.m. Monday. The officer entered the residence and exchanged gunfire with two suspects.

Officials say the officer was wounded in his leg and ankle. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Officials said early Tuesday that the injured officer was a six-year veteran of the force. The officer was not immediately identified.

The search for the suspects is underway.
