Canon City football team nice both on and off the field

At Canon City high school, the football team is required to remember one thing, “Just remember who you are,” says head coach Tom O’Rourke. Not only does head coach Tom O’Rourke want to help his students play good football but he wants them be good people as well, “Remember who you are is kinda like when you go out in public don’t act like your something you’re not. So don’t act like a jack wagon and go around and act like you are top dog because you’re not,” says senior Connor McCain, “That means like your integrity follows you everywhere even when no one is looking. Be respectful young man and yes ma’am no sir just be a respectful human being,” says senior Vincent Merlino.

Off of the field these young men are polite. Are you having fun? “Yes Sir”. On the field they don’t believe they should be overlooked. “I don’t believe we are an underdog at all. I think people should be aware of us and I think we are really good threat.” says McCain. “I think people are looking at this year thinking oh you know maybe a rebuilding year kind of thing and in a sense I guess it kind of is when you have to fill spots but I think we have some kids who are looking at it like no I don’t want to rebuild I want to get back to the playoffs and I want to make a charge,” says O’Rourke. “Never doubt the Canon City Tigers? Don’t doubt us we’re rising,” says McCain.
