Motorcycle rally in Cripple Creek honors vets

Colorado’s largest procession of motorcycles, “Salute to American Veteran Rally” kicked off in Cripple Creek Saturday night.

Three thousand motorcyclists began in Woodland Park and made their way to Cripple Creek. An annual event held ever year to honor fallen veterans.

“Motorcycle really represents freedom and this rally is about freedom,” said Jim Wear, the rally founder and organizer.

Bikers donned their leathers and displayed American flags as they rode down Colorado 67.

“It’s about thanking those who gave us our freedom. It’s about America, it’s about the flag, we love our country,” said Wear.

The event resumes Sunday morning at 8 a.m.

For those planning on attending, keep in mind that there may be traffic delays on Colorado 67 between Woodland Park and Cripple Creek.
