Aircraft makes emergency landing near Air Force Academy

A plane made an emergency landing on the west side of I-25 south of Interquest, near the Air Force Academy.

The Aero Club Cessna 172 was carrying two males, and no injuries were reported. The aircraft was seen upside down in a field Thursday morning.

The Aero Club is a civilian-owned flying club located at the Air Force Academy, according to a spokesperson with USAFA. The spokesperson said no one from the Academy was involved in the landing.

According to FAA records, however, the plane is registered as being owned by the Air Force Academy. We’ve reached out for clarification.

The landing is not affecting traffic and authorities say to not stop on the I-25 ramps.

We have a crew on the scene and will work to bring you updates.
