UCCS freshmen move into their college dorms

For more than 1,100 students, it was the beginning of their college career.

Freshmen at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs moved into their dorm rooms starting bright and early Tuesday morning.

Some students said they were ready for it, “I’m just ready to get into the groove of the college life and the college experience in general.” Others were hesitant, “I’m a little nervous.”

For the parents leaving their kids behind on their new adventure was harder. One mother said, “this is very emotional, it’s a bittersweet time for her to experience new things but very hard to let her go.”

Everything a student could need was filled in bins going in and out of campus. When asked what they couldn’t live without in college, students said their mini-fridge, tea heater or their 20 pairs of shoes.

While none of those actually contribute to their education, their parent said they focus on getting their degree.

Classes start on Monday, August 20.
