Phone charger sparks fire at Colorado Springs hotel
The Colorado Springs Fire Department says a cell phone charger caused a fire inside a hotel Monday.
It happened shortly before 3 p.m. at the Rodeway Inn on S. Nevada. Firefighters found smoke coming from one of the rooms and pulled out a mattress and box spring that were on fire.
The flames were quickly extinguished and hadn’t spread to the rest of the room.
Fire inspectors searched the area and said the fire was accidental and caused by a “misuse of a mobile charging device.”
The fire department put out a reminder that it’s important to use the right charger for your phone or mobile device. Make sure the voltage matches up, and never cover the chargers since heat can build up.
