The first motorcycle crash happened late Friday just north of Academy Blvd. and Village Road South — 31-year-old Patricia J. Hynek was killed.

The second motorcycle crash happened Saturday at the same intersection — 48-year-old Alford L. Mannix, Jr. was killed.

On Sunday, 28-year-old Ryan C. Clarke was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Vindicator Drive. Police suspect speeding as a factor in that crash.

Then on Monday, 71-year-old Gary M. Pierce was killed in a crash in the 2100 block of S. Circle Drive. Pierce was reportedly fleeing the scene of a smaller accident on I-25 before he lost control near Circle.

Police say there have been 32 traffic fatalities in the city this year, compared to 22 traffic fatalities at this time last year. The current trend sets us on a historic track as 2017 was a record-breaking year for traffic fatalities at 39.
