Neighbors in Cheyenne Canon fed up with new Seven Falls parking

After new parking rules recently changed for people wanting to visit Seven Falls, KRDO looked into complaints of excessive traffic in one neighborhood.

“The traffic is nonstop, it’s constant,” said Karen Raymond, who lives along Cheyenne Blvd.

Previously, parking for Seven Falls was set up right near the main Broadmoor Hotel, but according to neighbors, it was switched during the U.S. Senior Open a month ago.

“People living in the Broadmoor complained about all the congestion in the area, so they moved it to our area,” said Raymond.

Raymond is one of dozens of people living in Cheyenne Canon that are fed up with traffic. It’s not just cars, but the shuttle buses scooting up to the tourist attraction.

“My focus is there’s going to be an accident, and people are going to get hurt because of the type of street this is,” Raymond said.

The issue even caught the attention of the Tom Martino Show, which partners with KRDO News Radio.

“Oh my god, I mean 300 buses going through a residential street, a narrow street, in one day,” said Tom as he listened to callers voicing their concerns on his show.

In a Facebook post, the Broadmoor made a public comment on the matter, saying “[they] changed [their] parking location to accommodate more visitors as well as a courtesy to our Broadmoor neighbors.”

“It disturbs people’s peace of mind,” said Cyndy Kulp, who believes there should be a compromise. “Get the buses going on commercial routes instead of on residential roads.”

KRDO has reached out to the Broadmoor, but they have refused to comment.
