History made: Colorado Springs gets first female postmaster

Colorado Springs’ 24th postmaster is a historic first for our city.

JoLea Quintana was officially sworn in Friday as our city’s first female to lead the local postal offices.

There was a ceremony to celebrate this historic event featuring a color guard and speeches by local officials, including USPS Colorado District Manager Kevin Romero.

She succeeds Samarn Reed, who moved to the Postmaster position in Denver last year. Quintana had been filling in for the role since February.

Quintana has been working with the USPS since 1989 in Chandler, Arizona, and has held management positions for the past 23 years.

In her new role, Quintana will oversee 822 employees and 12 facilities.
