Gates being installed at all entrances to Garden of the Gods

In response to illegal activity happening at Garden of the Gods after hours, gates are going up at all of the road entrances to Colorado Springs’ famous park.

There are already four gates at park entrances, and five more will be installed starting Wednesday.

We told you about the illegal activity happening at the park , and park officials say that after-hour gate closures will begin in late August or early September.

The city parks department says the gates will also let maintenance crews easily close roadways for special events and emergency situations.

Garden of the Gods is open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. from May 1 to Oct. 31 and 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Nov. 1 to April 30.
