20-year-old woman dies after crash in Custer County

A 20-year-old woman from Texas died after a crash Tuesday morning on Highway 69 south of Westcliffe.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash happened at about 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Hwy 69 and Custer County Road 328. ( MAP )

CSP says Emily Roach of Lindale, Texas, was driving west and didn’t stop for a stop sign at Hwy 69. When she crossed the highway, a Ford F-250 traveling north ended up striking her Acura CL and pushed it off the highway into a barbed wire fence.

Roach was taken to the hospital but died on the way, according to CSP. She was wearing her seat belt.

The driver of the pickup truck wasn’t injured in the crash.
