Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Warm Weekend Ahead – 8/4/18

Today: Mostly sunny this morning, partly cloudy, a bit breezy and warmer this afternoon with high temperatures in the 70s to lower 80s for the mountains, 80s and 90s along the I-25 corridor, and mid to upper 90s for the eastern plains. Spotty thunderstorms may develop over and near the mountains late this afternoon and evening, then drift east over the plains, but these storms look to be few and far between and generally pretty weak. Northern and western parts of our coverage area appear to have the best chance to be affected by storms briefly later today…

Tonight: Any showers and thunderstorms that may have developed will drift east and end leaving a partly cloudy sky for everyone tonight. We expect the air to cool into the 50s and 60s by morning for most areas, although a few locations across the high country will cool into the 40s…

Extended: Sunday looks very warm again with only widely spaced showers and thunderstorms expected, but a few storms could be a bit stronger. A cold front will slide over the eastern plains on Monday helping to bring cooler air and an increase in available low level moisture to the area. Thunderstorms will probably become more numerous across the area again late Monday and Monday evening, and it appears there may be some potential for heavy rain and/or severe weather with the strongest storms. Tuesday also looks relatively cool, and while the number of thunderstorms we expect for Tuesday is a bit uncertain, there may again be enough moisture around for some stronger storms. Wednesday and Thursday should be a bit warmer again with thunderstorms becoming less likely for many areas. Friday may be a touch cooler, but right now our thunderstorm chances don’t look very good locally.
