Hot weekend with storms next week – 08/04/18

Tonight: Temperatures cool to the 70s and 80s later tonight with overnight lows tumbling to the 50s and 60s. Partly cloudy skies are expected. A few isolated storms are possible in southern Colorado this evening, but storms will be clearing from the west to the east sometime between 9 p.m. and midnight. It will be dry early Sunday morning.

Tomorrow: Dress in summer gear if you’re headed to brunch or church tomorrow morning! Temperatures will already by warm by 9 a.m. — ranging in the upper 70s. By noon, we jump to the low to mid 90s! Temperatures will be well above-average and we’ll be close to record highs. 80s are expected for the local mountains with the far eastern plains hitting the upper 90s and perhaps low 100s. Partly sunny skies are on tap for the area with increasing clouds in the afternoon. A few sparse storms are possible Sunday afternoon and evening; one or two could become strong-to-severe.

Extended: Temperatures drop relatively noticeably by Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will only reach the 70s and 80s. A mixture of sunshine and clouds is expected on a daily basis throughout the remainder of our seven day forecast. Storms will increase in coverage and intensity Monday through Wednesday. We’ll be tracking the risk for some flash flooding over burn scars and a few cases of large hail and damaging gusts. Keep the umbrella handy as you step into the work week, and be prepared for active weather! We’ll keep you ahead of the storms.
