Deadly crash closes southbound lanes of I-25 south of Fountain
Colorado State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash south of Colorado Springs.
The crash happened just after 10:00 p.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of I-25 in El Paso County, near mile marker 125. Colorado State Patrol says a 32-year-old man was riding a motorcycle when he lost control and hit a guardrail, and was thrown from it. He was not wearing a helmet and was declared dead at the scene.
The motorcycle then sideswiped another motorcycle before striking a car then an SUV. The other motorcycle rider, 39-year-old Curtis Grable of Englewood, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Memorial Hospital.
The SUV caught fire after it was hit by the motorcycle. Everyone inside the SUV and the car got out safely.
The man who died in this crash will be identified once his family is notified. At this time it does not appear that speed, alcohol, or drugs, contributed to the crash.
This is a developing story. Check back with KRDO for the latest information.
