Locals react to Colorado ranking high in education, overall happiness
It goes without saying, people living in Colorado appreciate the views and the lifestyle. but we aren’t the only ones who admire the state’s beauty. In a new survey, Colorado Springs is the number one ranked city people would pick to live in if they could. That’s according to the U.S. News and World report. But the chart-topping recognition doesn’t stop there. In another new report, the state of Colorado made an appearance at the top of two more categories, education and overall happiness.
Many who live in Colorado Springs don’t realize they’re living in the nation’ s most desirable city.
“I’d say it’s in the top ten places for me to live anyway,” said Joe Logan who has lived oversees.
But once they’re told it ranks number one in a new survey, they understand.
“I can see what attracts people to Colorado Springs definitely,” he said.
With the view of Pikes Peak and many outdoors activities, many say it’s what brought them to the city in the first place. “The lovely people, the mountains of course,” said local Dirk Aden.
“The mountains, the great weather. It feels like a small town but has all the amenities of a big town,” said Ann Jackson.
Some saying health and lifestyle were big factors into their move.
“We’ll be able to get the kids outside more and go for some walks,” said Stacia Kriebel, who just mocved from New Hampshire.
Both of those are also reasons why Colorado placed third as the happiest state in the country, in a different survey by Wallet Hub. But for parents, the biggest attraction is the state’s public schools.
“It’s a clean great city to raise your family,” said local Dela Quaaze.
Colorado ranks 10th best in the country. “That’s something that was helping us drive what house we’ll buy and there are a lot of good choices, it’s making it hard to choose,” Kriebel said. So not only is Colorado Springs a dream city to live in, Colorado as a state is just as popular. Honolulu has taken the title for most desirable city to live in for the past 2 years, while Colorado Springs has been second.
