Colorado man shoots wife he thought was an intruder

Police say a Castle Rock man shot his wife because he mistakenly believed that she was a home intruder.

The Denver Post reports the woman is expected to survive after being shot in the abdomen on Friday night.

Castle Rock police spokesman Joe Cybert said Saturday that he did not know the woman’s condition. No charges have been filed in the shooting in the town about 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Denver, and police have ruled out foul play.

Police have not identified the couple.
