Colorado Springs woman accused in fiance’s stabbing death

A Colorado Springs woman is accused of stabbing to death her fiance following an argument over suspected infidelity.

The Gazette reports 31-year-old Jacqueline Souza was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder Saturday in the death of 33-year-old Brandon Watkins.

According to court documents, Souza called 911, and police found Watkins “unresponsive and bloody.” A steak knife was found near his body.

Souza gave police different accounts of what happened, first telling them that she found Watkins with a knife in his chest and the door was open. She later told authorities that Watkins became violent and he eventually fell on the knife during a struggle.

Souza posted a $50,000 bond and was released Tuesday. A phone number listed for Souza has been disconnected.

KRDO obtained the court documents and discovered Souza and Watkins were celebrating their upcoming Las Vegas wedding but began arguing over whether to invite a woman Watkins once had an affair with.
