SUV falls into sinkhole in Sheridan

The driver of an SUV managed to escape the vehicle before it plunged below the asphalt when a sinkhole opened up Wednesday in Sheridan.

It happened at the intersection of Oxford Ave. and Natches Ct. Police say a pipe below the pavement gave way due to heavy rains in the area, then the hole opened up and the SUV fell in.

The driver escaped without any injuries, according to our partners at Denver7.

Police shut the road down while crews worked to remove the SUV from the hole at about noon.
