Police: 2 men arrested after shooting at Colorado Springs building

Two men were arrested after causing an altercation and then shooting at a building Monday night on Fillmore Street, according to Colorado Springs police.

It happened at about 10:30 p.m. Monday — officers went to a “shots fired” call in the 200 block of E. Fillmore Street and talked to an employee of the business.

Police learned that two men, Robert and Christopher Cortez, aged 21 and 18 respectively, went into the business and started an argument with the employee. At one point, Robert pointed a gun at the employee and a customer.

When Robert and Christopher left on foot, Robert fired several shots at the building, according to CSPD.

But the pair were caught “a short distance away” and police found evidence connecting them to the shooting. Robert was arrested for menacing and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. Christopher was arrested for accessory to a crime — menacing.
