Inmate killed following fight at Colorado State Penitentiary in Caon City

An inmate has died following a fight at the Colorado State Penitentiary in Cañon City.

According to the Department of Corrections, Thomas Laperch was injured during Saturday’s fight and then died on Sunday.

The incident is under investigation by the CDOC Office of the Inspector General.

The name of the other inmate involved in the fight hasn’t been released.

Laperch was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder, along with multiple other charges.
