What’s with the choices for the new name for the Sky Sox?

“Well I’ll tell you, I don’t want to throttle jockey this situation here but we’ve got a lot of punchy pikas that have been busting our lamb chomps on social media. At the end of the day we want to be happy campers and enjoy some delicious rocky mountain oysters,” says Chris Phillips, general manager of the Sky Sox. That lyrical genius is Chris Phillips, he’s running the soon-to-be-renamed Sky Sox. Chris and his team narrowed down more than two thousand submissions to those five finalists and one name left on the cutting room floor, “The one that didn’t make it which we all liked was kissing camels. We should have known that the kissing camels golf club owns that trademark and that one got vetoed,” says Phillips.

As you might expect, people were mad, Chris Likens it to stages of grief, “We’re kind of moving the Sky Sox name on and people are going to be angry and upset and then they’re going to be in the denial phase and then the bargaining phase and accepting phase and I think once you let us work through this you’re going to love what we come up with,” says Phillips.

Tim Dillard’s been around the baseball block and he’s seen this sort of thing before, “I remember when I was first a Beloit snapper and I was looking at it and it’s like a little cute turtle with a hat backwards, i was like nobody’s gonna take us seriously. But that hat was the best selling hat from new era in the minor leagues for like 4 or 5 years straight,” says Dillard.

He loves the idea of a cloaking Colorado Springs baseball in laughs,

“I think when you lean it more towards the fun side I think it gets contagious and people come for more than just what’s going on on the field,” says Dillard. The question now becomes which name will you choose, “Like a bull like an uneasy bull ha ha ha,” says Dillard.
