Homeless man arrested for disrupting workers at Colorado Springs park, police recover stolen handgun

Police received reports about a homeless man disrupting workers at a nearby park Wednesday morning.

Officers located 35-year-old Branden Lee Bishop at 2nd St. and El Paso Street. Bishop lied about his name and tried to run away.

An officer tripped Bishop and managed to take him into custody. Officers used a finger scanner on the scene to identify Bishop.

Upon searching him, a stolen handgun was found in his backpack. No physical injuries were sustained by Bishop or officer.
