Local Starbucks helps Fountain teen with senior photos after being rained out

A thunderstorm almost rained out Sydney Johansson’s senior photo session, but thanks to a kindhearted employee at a Starbucks in Fountain, she didn’t miss out on proudly posing for her high school achievement.

Rescheduling was not an option after the torrential rain on Sunday because Sydney, who’s in a wheelchair, has an upcoming surgery.

Laura Johansson, Sydney’s mother, felt so hopeless she then decided to take her chances and ask if they could do the photo session inside the Starbucks. According to her, Starbucks is the “cool” spot for many teens.

Laura didn’t expect a positive response, but Starbucks employee Chris Lopez came to the rescue.

Sydney was given red carpet treatment, according to her photographer’s Facebook post.

Lopez went out of his way to help — he took out an Umbrella and helped get Sydney inside, made them hot chocolate, rearranged the furniture, and pulled out a few markers and colorful paper to make a backdrop to make the photos look cooler.

“That’s nothing you hear about every day, and to be shown the kindness we were shown was so overwhelming,” said Johansson.

Lopez says he did not hesitate to help because he knows the importance of senior pictures.

“It’s senior year, it’s raining, you know, you gotta make a point to help anyone out,” said Lopez.

The Facebook post continues to circulate all over social media. Lopez will soon be recognized by Starbucks for his act of kindness.
