Fatal rollover crash closes 8th Street, Police say crash most likely medical

The Colorado Springs Police Department received information about a single-car rollover crash a little after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Crews arrived at the scene on 8th Street at Yucca and closed the southbound lanes.

CSPD and members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department found the single occupant of the vehicle dead on the scene.

Lieutenant Howard Black with the Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed the occupant was an adult male.

“There are some indications that there is a possibility that this was a medical event prior to the crash. Obviously, we will not be able to confirm that until after the autopsy,” said Lt. Black.

Once the autopsy is released, police will be able to know if the death was a traffic fatality or a medical event.

Police say speed and alcohol does not seem to be a factor in the crash.
