‘Person of interest’ charged with murder in SE Colorado Springs shooting

Mark Christopher Peters has been charged with first-degree murder after a fatal shooting that happened Friday in southeast Colorado Springs.

Peters was taken into custody on outstanding warrants after a manhunt that lasted about six hours, but police said he was only a person of interest in the shooting, which happened in the 3400 block of Galleria Terrace.

Monday, Peters was officially charged with murder.

Police still haven’t identified the victim.

Colorado Springs police responded to a death investigation Friday evening in the southeast side of the city.

Police said they’re looking for 46-year-old Mark Christopher Peters, who is being considered armed and dangerous. He’s possibly on a silver 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with the license GHO-847. If you see him, call police, and don’t attempt to interact with him.

Lt. Howard Black with CSPD says officers are at another location working to get Peters into custody on outstanding warrants.

Black said “it doesn’t look like this is a random shooting,” but didn’t elaborate on a possible motive.
