Colorado mom’s warning goes viral after daughter is locked in washing machine

A mother in Conifer wrote a post on Facebook saying that her three-year-old daughter accidentally locked herself inside a front-load washing machine, and now the post has been shared by more than a quarter of a million people.

Lindsey McIver says she and her husband bought the new washing machine last week and warned her children to not play near it.

But last Tuesday, McIver’s four-year-old son walked into the bedroom and said, through tears, that Kloe was inside the washer.

McIver and her husband rushed down to the basement and found Kloe “locked inside the airtight washing machine,” according to the Facebook post.

“It was tumbling and filling with water. She was screaming but you couldn’t hear her. We were able to quickly stop it and unlock the door and get her out,” McIver said.

Kloe was OK after the incident but did get a couple of bumps on her head.

Now McIver is hoping her story is shared by enough people to prevent any other kids from being trapped inside a washing machine.
