Few strong storms tonight, more rain tomorrow – 7/4/18
TONIGHT: A few isolated strong storms are possible through the first part of the evening, and then the threat likely moves east past sunset. The primary concerns with any strong storms will be for hail and gusty winds. The very few fireworks displays that are occurring this evening will not likely be rained out. Most areas stay dry and partly cloudy tonight with lows in the 50s and 60s.
EXTENDED: Tomorrow brings better chances for widespread rain and thunderstorms. Rain should start over the mountains and San Luis valley as early as 9-10 am. This will gradually spread east through noon and will continue off and on all day. Showers and storms will be slow moving and could produce locally heavy rain due to good moisture presence. This heavier rain is good, but could be problematic if it occurs over fresh burn scars. Flash flooding is possible, so crews fighting fires will need to be very aware of this tomorrow. Rain comes to an end very early Friday and we are left with drying skies and warmer temps through the weekend.
