100% containment reached on wildfire near Stonemoor Hills in Pueblo

Update: Officials say as of Sunday evening, the Stonemoor wildfire is 100% contained.

Previous Story: Fire crews have reached 70 percent containment on a wildfire that sparked near the Stonemoor Hills area of Pueblo Friday afternoon.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, the fire has burned 217 acres. The fire is burning near Lake Pueblo State Park. (MAP)

Hand crews and air operations are helping to fight the fire.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says no structures are threatened at this time, though one outbuilding was burned. Motorists are urged to avoid the area to allow fire equipment easier access.

Highway 96 reopened Saturday evening. ( PHOTOS )

Evacuation orders were lifted Saturday for residents living on Highway 96 from McCarthy Blvd. to the reservoir access, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said.

No injuries have been reported.

Smoke from the fire is lingering through Pueblo, and police sent a message on Twitter telling residents to not call 911 about the smoke.
