The one thing tourists forget to bring to Garden of the Gods

Thursday’s scorching temperatures and blue skies came with one of the 300 days of sunshine Colorado receives every year, but some people at a popular tourist destination weren’t all that prepared.

Tourists from Decatur, Illinois; Kansas City, Missouri; and Virginia, to name a few were able to check-off Garden of the Gods Park from their bucket list.

“We just wanted to take in everything that was around here because where we’re from we get cornfields and soybeans,” said Lucy Besser.

Colorado Springs locals know the scenery doesn’t come with much shade.

“All I really have to say is, it’s really hot, to be honest,” said nine-year-old Harper.

It seems like everyone packs the selfie stick and the camera when going to a place like Garden of the Gods but when it comes to water, it doesn’t seem like it’s a priority for everyone.

That’s the one thing missing for many during this picture-perfect day.

“I’m dehydrated; it’s in the car,” said Harper’s father when asked about his water supply.

“It’s in the car. Probably a good idea to have it out here,” said Lucy Besser of Decatur.

But to a group of friends visiting from Kansas City, Missouri, water was a must-have, even when some wind came around.

“It’s a mistake you’ll feel it later. Well, you’ll just be more tired out on the trail, more prone to exhaustion,” said Dreyton Smith.

As the sunny days continue, remember: Garden of the Gods is a beautiful place, but they don’t sell water.
