Ronald McDonald House breaks ground in Colorado Springs
A new house for seriously ill children and their families is on its way to becoming a reality. The Ronald McDonald house charities of Southern Colorado broke ground on the UC Health, Memorial North Campus.
The new center will be near the southwest corner of North Union Boulevard and Royal Pine Drive here in Colorado Springs, within eyesight and walking distance of the new Children’s Hospital. The new house will be four times the size of the current Ronald McDonald House, located at North Logan Avenue.
“It’s imperative for the Ronald McDonald house to be as close as possible to where the majority of the families are and so those families can walk back and forth and they can be near their children the entire time they are hospitalized,” said Beth Alessio with Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The new Ronald McDonald House will open its doors next year.
