Heat and Fire Danger Continue 6-28-18
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy to mostly clear skies continue overnight. Smoke has drifted northeast from the Spring Fire and will likely still be smelled and seen in the morning. Lows drop to the 50s and 60s with near 70 for parts of the Plains.
TOMORROW: The heat and fire danger continue tomorrow. Red Flag Warnings go into effect for the Eastern Mountains and San Luis Valley again starting at noon and lasting until 9 p.m. Temps may be a few degrees cooler than today but still climb to the 90s and triple digits through the afternoon hours. A few thunderstorms are likely to develop, especially over the Eastern Plains with gusty winds and lightning the main threats. Severe storms are possible across the far Eastern Plains.
EXTENDED: A cold front arrives over the Palmer Divide early Saturday bringing cooler temperatures and more moisture back to Southern Colorado. Increased storm chances are possible both Saturday and Sunday bringing temperatures back to the 70s and 80s with low 90s for the Plains. The cool down is short lived as the heat returns next week with isolated storms.
