Will Rogers Shrine and putting at the Broadmoor
There’s a rhyme that all players have to remember this week, “If you can keep the shrine in mind,” says Mikael Hogberg. Before you putt you have to find the Will Rogers Shrine or else you’ll be in a bind, “Every putt breaks away from the shrine. It’s a Mountain effect it’s gravity,” says Russ Miller, Director of Golf at the Broadmoor.
“How many times did you look for the shrine? 36 times maybe twice every green,” says Ian Doig.
If you trust the shrine the greens will be kind. Although looks can be deceiving, “We call it head scratchers. When it does the opposite of what it looks,” says Miller, “We have to trust the Mountain shrine and how much it breaks,” says Tom Werkmeister, “They are the type of greens that can keep you up at night? Um, they could yes,” says Bruce Nakamura.
Now that you know the secrets of the shrine, “It helps but don’t tell tell anyone, says Hogberg. Or else you’ll get a kick in the behind.
