Colorado sees most primary votes in past decade
A day before all ballots for the primary election in Colorado, the Secretary of State’s Office is already reporting a record turnout for the past decade.
As of about 5 p.m. Monday, 809,707 ballots had been received from Colorado voters. That’s more than the 774,071 ballots cast in the 2010 primary election.
That may be because this was the first year of a system to encourage more participation from unaffiliated voters. Instead of having to choose a party’s primary to participate in, unaffiliated voters were sent both Republican and Democratic ballots with the instruction to file one of them.
Tuesday is the last day to drop off your ballot if you haven’t done so.
