Romain Dumas sets new record at PPIHC
We didn’t have to wait long for an answer. Seven minutes and 57 seconds after teh green flag dropped, Romain Dumas set a new overall record for the Hill Climb, “After all the bumps I said come on just 500 meters to go so I spoke to the car and said go to the end ha ha now go to the top baby and we go for it,” says Romain Dumas, “I never thought I’d see that record broken. And then when I watched him in practice I thought – maybe,” says Paul Dallenbach, “Awesome, crazy time. Electric is a zero loss, 100 percent power and that’s what you need up here. I need oxygen right now ha ha,” says Clint Vahsholtz.
And to think, Dumas broke the record coming off a delay and in conditions that were less than ideal,
“Yea it was a pretty stressful day watching the weather and watching the fog roll in, it was probably the slickest it’s been since the road was paved,” says Dallenbach.
He’s also the king of the mountain for a third straight year and Dumas doesn’t plan on slowing down now, “Pikes peak is always such a tough challenge the last 4 or 5 years it was always a lot of stress but I’m happy about today now finally I won what I wanted to win in endurance and I got the record, I wanted to beat 8 (minutes) but I’m sure we can go a lot faster,” says Dumas.
