Storms and Fire Danger Friday 6-21-18
TONIGHT: Isolated storms continue this evening before dissipating overnight. Skies remain partly cloudy to mostly clear with lows in the 50s and 60s.
TOMORROW: An active day is on tap for Southern Colorado as we are tracking high fire danger for our western areas and strong to severe storms in the Eastern Plains. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Eastern Mountains and San Luis Valley tomorrow from Noon to 8 p.m. Winds in these locations will gust around 40 mph at times with low relative humidity. Much higher humidity will be around East of I-25 where strong to severe storms are possible in the afternoon and evening. Large hail and gusty winds will be the primary threats. Skies are mostly sunny in the morning with afternoon highs in the 80s and 90s.
EXTENDED: Saturday will be a quieter day with isolated storms possible. Moisture will be lower so any storms that form will be weak. Highs stay in the 80s and 90s with lighter winds. Sunday will be very similar to Friday with high fire danger and severe storms returning to the same locations. Our next incoming system will not only bring gusty winds and fire danger to the San Luis Valley and Eastern Mountains but it will also bring severe storms and cooler temperatures to the Eastern Plains. Monday remains a little cooler with showers possible before temps warm quickly for the middle of next week.
