82nd Western Street Breakfast kicks off in Colorado Springs

Nearly 200 cowboys saddled up and journeyed down Pikes Peak avenue Wednesday morning to kick off the start of rodeo season in southern Colorado.

It marked the 82nd annual Western Street Breakfast that drew in hundreds of families to celebrate western heritage.

“It’s such a great time with the whole family,” said Jeff Schaefer.

Like many families in the crowd, Schaefer’s son Henry was enamored with the Pikes Peak Range Riders. It’s a tradition the group celebrates to kick off the rodeo season in Southern Colorado.

The group even traveled down south 8th St. past our KRDO studios.

“Being a part of this group and having the opportunity to promote western heritage is just fascinating,” said Scot Cuthberson, who’s part of the group.

The event began back in 1936. It’s grown substantially in the past several decades. Many describe it as “western energy coming alive”.

Proceeds from the breakfast and the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo will go toward our local military and their families. For more information on how to get tickets to the rodeo, click here.
