Crews battling small wildfire near Palmer Lake

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that firefighters are working to extinguish a blaze that broke out Thursday near Palmer Lake.

Few details are known at this point, but it was reported about two miles north of the Palmer Lake Reservoir. It was estimated to be less than an acre in size as of 3 p.m.

The sheriff’s office said Palmer Lake Fire Department is leading the firefighting effort. At least one helicopter is being utilized, and ground crews got to the fire by 3:15 p.m.
