2 fires caused by lightning in Teller County quickly contained

Two fires in Teller County were started by lightning strikes Wednesday afternoon, but thanks to the quick work of firefighters, the blazes were contained quickly.

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office says they were located on Cathedral Ridge and Forest Service Road 339 north of Woodland Park off Highway 67.

Local firefighters and the U.S. Forest Service, along with the help of a helicopter, were able to contain the fires before nightfall.

No structures were burned and no injuries were reported.
