Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – More Heat – 6/9/18

Today: Mostly sunny this morning, partly cloudy, breezy and hot this afternoon with high temperatures in the 90 s to near 100 for the plains, mainly 70s to lower 80s for the mountains. Isolated thunderstorms are possible over the southeastern corner of the state late this afternoon, and a Red Flag Warning is in effect for the San Luis Valley.

Tonight: Becoming mostly clear with low temperatures in the 50s and 60s for the plains, 40s and 50s over the mountains.

Extended: The wind will pick up Sunday which will bring fire weather conditions to much of the area, and a Red Flag Warning has already been issued by the National Weather Service. A weak cold front will slide over the area on Monday, and while the air will cool a bit we don’t expect a great chance for thunderstorms with the arrival of the cold front. Thunderstorms should return to some areas starting Tuesday, and although we don’t expect widespread rainfall next week, occasionally some areas will receive some rain. The air next week won’t be quite as hot as this weekend, and the increased water in the atmosphere should decrease the fire weather concerns for most areas.
