Another hot one – 06/07/18

Today: It will be another hot afternoon across southern Colorado! Temperatures will be sizzling with highs in the 90s and 100s for the lower elevations and 70s and 80s for the local mountains. We’ll have primarily dry weather with only isolated storms for the mountains and eastern plains. Where storms develop near the Kansas state line, there could be a few cases of large hail and damaging gusts. We’ll track that! Beyond that, we’ll have partly to mostly sunny skies.

Tonight: We’ll be drier overnight. Lows drop to the 40s and 50s under mostly clear skies.

Extended: Our heat wave lasts through this upcoming weekend! Temperatures will be roughly 15 degrees above-average…STILL! Unfortunately, there will be times of elevated fire danger as well. Winds aren’t expected to be incredibly strong this weekend, but it could be breezy enough to boost our fire concerns. Into the start of next week (while models disagree somewhat), temperatures have the possibility of cooling. Tomorrow again for the eastern plains, we have a small risk of seeing a couple of strong-to-severe storms. Storm chances increase into the middle of next work week.
