Record warmth and a few storms – 6/5/18
TODAY: Record warmth is likely around Southern Colorado today. Highs will be around 100 in the far plains, 80s and 90s in the lower elevations with 70s in the mountains. Spotty showers and storms are possible for locations around the area, anytime after 1PM. Severe weather is not expected but a couple of storms out east could be strong!
TONIGHT: We clear out and overnight lows cool into the 40s and 50s.
EXTENDED: The heat wave continues over the next few days, with highs remaining in the 90s in the lower terrain. Isolated showers and storms are possible in areas, but no significant rain is expected. The fire danger remains elevated every day this week due to the dry fuels, low relative humidity and heat (wind won’t be a problem). More isolated showers and storms are possible through the weekend, with MUCH cooler higher for Monday and Tuesday of next week.
