Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Few Thunderstorms – 6/3/18

Today: Partly cloudy this morning with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing this afternoon. We do not expect severe weather to be a great threat today, but localized heavy rain, small hail, gusty wind and frequent lightning could occur with strongest cells. H igh temperatures will again reach the 70s and 80s for the plains, mainly 60s to lower 70s for the mountains, but the air will cool in the vicinity of any thunderstorms that develop later in the day. We expect occasional wind gusts over 20 mph this afternoon, but we do not expect critical fire weather conditions across the area today.

Tonight: Scattered thunderstorms will come to an end, then partly cloudy with decreasing wind tonight. The air should cool into the 40s and 50s again by morning.

Extended: Drier and warmer air should return to the area starting Monday. Much of next week looks hot and dry, and the wind should increase by the end of the week possibly brining fire weather back to the area. Isolated thunderstorms may return to some areas starting Friday.
