Brave Teens Save Child from Drowning

Colorado Springs Police and Fire Depts. were notified of a young child around 5 years of age laying face down in the water at Prospect Lake in Memorial Park. An alert teenager immediately entered the water after observing the drowning and carried the child to shore. The teen’s sister notified 911 and provided CPR reviving the child. The child was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover.

The child’s guardian had left the child and several other children near the water to retrieve items from the car. The guardian could not see the children and was unaware of the situation.

Crimes Against Children’s Unit was notified and responded and assumed command of the investigation.
