Colorado Springs apartment rents continue to rise
It’s probably not news to anyone currently living in the city, but rent prices in Colorado Springs continue to rise.
The median price of a two-bedroom apartment — $1,230, according to Apartmentlist.com — is up 3.3 percent from May 2017. The same study puts the Springs’ rent growth rate at second-highest in the state behind Arvada.
Compared to 2016, which saw a rent growth rate of 9.4 percent in the Springs, last year’s growth rate was a bit of a reprieve. Last year’s rent growth rate is in line with recent growth in average income, but it doesn’t spell out good news for those on a fixed income.
According to Apartmentlist.com, the median two-bedroom rent is $60 above the national average of $1,170, and rents have grown nationwide by about 1.5 percent.
