Colorado Springs police respond to situation on Dale Street

A heavy police presence was seen on W. Dale Street near Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs Wednesday evening as officers worked to get a suspect in custody. ( MAP )

CSPD tell us the situation started around 7:00 as a verbal argument between two men before several gunshots were fired.

Police say Michael Jones (pictured below), 37, fired those shots at the other man, who has not been identified. Police were then called to the scene and that’s when Jones barricaded himself inside his home.

Officers contained the area and evacuated several nearby homes as a precaution. When Jones refused to come out, search and arrest warrants were obtained and the Tactical Enforcement Unit responded.

Jones eventually came out on his own without incident just after 11:00. He was arrested on the charges of Felony Menacing, Bias Motivated Crimes and Prohibited Use of Weapons.
